Each neighborhood in Austin has a District Representative who is a police officer assigned to a Region/Section of Austin. The officer handles non-emergency issues such as abandoned cars, parking violations, transients, trash dumping - anything that has to do with code violations. The Eastwoods neighborhood is located in Region 1/Baker Section./B1

University of Texas Outdoor Warning System - Strategically placed sirens that warn the university campus and Eastwoods neighborhood to take shelter in the event of an emergency, such as a severe weather event. Visit the website for complete instructions. A one-minute test is performed the 1st Wednesday of every month at 11:50 am.

Austin Resource Recovery Department (formerly Solid Waste Services) provides residential curbside collection of trash, recycling and yard trimmings. Additional services include sweeping streets, collecting dead animals, operating a drop-off center for household hazardous waste and collecting bulk items and large brush. If you have any questions about these services, call 311.
In 2009, the Austin City Council passed Texas’ first Zero Waste Plan (pdf file) and set a goal to reduce the amount of waste sent to area landfills by 90 percent by 2040. To ensure Zero Waste is achieved, the Austin Resource Recovery Department established a more aggressive goal and plans to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills by 90 percent by 2030.
